Shahid was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2023. After completing half of his articles with an experienced criminal trial lawyer in Northern BC (Jason C. LeBlond, KC), he completed the remainder of his articles with an experienced civil litigator in downtown Vancouver (Brent B. Olthuis, KC).

During his articles in Northern BC, Shahid appeared and assisted on serious criminal matters, including criminal negligence causing death. He was able to achieve favourable results for his clients dealing with serious charges by focusing on negotiating with the Crown, and working out several non-trial resolution deals.

After Shahid completed his articles and began his career as a young downtown lawyer, he also appeared and assisted on serious quasi-criminal matters, including civil contempt applications and regulatory matters that involved dealing with professional bodies, such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.

Shahid has appeared in all levels of court in BC and has gained experience advocating for clients by regularly appearing in contested applications in court. One of the great highlights of Shahid’s young career has been receiving positive feedback for his advocacy and research skills from other senior lawyers he’s worked with. 

In addition to English, Shahid also fluently speaks Urdu and Hindi.
