The Civil Forfeiture Act allows the director of civil forfeiture to commence legal proceedings against property linked to unlawful activity. The director does not need to prove that you were convicted of a crime. This means even while you're being investigated, property belonging to you that the director believes is obtained from criminal activity can be seized.
